Solution in EU WEEE/ROHS & ELV Directive Compliance

In accordance with the EU (European Union) Directives on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS), from July of 2006, electrical products exported to Europe must not contain any of the specified hazardous metals, namely, cadmium, lead, mercury, and hexavalent chromium, or the specified hazardous substances, namely, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE).In accordance with the European Parliament and European Council’s Directive on End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV), the concentrations of specified hazardous metals (i.e., cadmium, lead, mercury, and hexavalent chromium) must be below certain levels.

These spectrometers enable the simple, rapid analysis of resins, metals, oxides, and liquids at the ppm level without pretreatment. The μEDX, which uses Shimadzu’s unique polycapillary (patent approved), is capable of measuring diameters as small as 50 um, that is difficult to attain with other X-ray fluorescence spectrometers.
